The prevalence of obesity and metabolic disorders such as diabetes, pre-diabetes, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome represents a significant public health challenge in the United States. Obesity is a complex, chronic, and often relapsing condition characterized by multifactorial neurobehavioral factors. It carries substantial adverse effects on metabolic, physical, and psychosocial health, and should not be viewed solely as a matter of character or willpower.

The Lifestyle and Metabolic Medicine care team aims to foster a supportive environment centered on education and encouragement, intentionally avoiding the blame and shame that can be associated with weight management difficulties.

The program offers patients a comprehensive framework and innovative tools that go beyond traditional advice of simply "eating less and exercising more." Key principles include:
